Marvin's Building Materials and Home Centers in Millbrook, Alabama sent over a great photo of the the local Heritage Girls who were treated to an in-store scavenger hunt to find the various tools and supplies they needed to complete their latest project. This is a great example of a local company supporting the community.

A good friend is now working with DIY.ORG. Vimeo co-founder, Zach Klein, has started this wonderful new company which provides a fun and educational experience for kids to learn new skills. Here is how it works: A child applies the skills learned on DIY.ORG and makes something, then captures it using the DIY.ORG app on his parents’ phone (or digital camera), and then adds it to a virtual portfolio. He can then show off his work by sharing the portfolio’s URL with his parents and family. The child then has opportunities to earn awards from the site in the form of themed patches as they master various skills. We like this site and the positive impact it has on kids. We wish them the best of luck as they continue to build this company. You can check out these woodworker skills: https://diy.org/skills/woodworker and a great video showing kids how to build a stomp rocket.
