A good friend is now working with DIY.ORG.  Vimeo co-founder, Zach Klein,  has started this wonderful new company which provides a fun and educational experience for kids to learn new skills.  Here is how it works: A child applies the skills learned on DIY.ORG and makes something, then captures it using the DIY.ORG app on his parents’ phone (or digital camera), and then adds it to a virtual portfolio. He can then show off his work by sharing the portfolio’s URL with his parents and family.  The child then has opportunities to earn awards from the site in the form of themed patches as they master various skills.  We like this site and the positive impact it has on kids.  We wish them the best of luck as they continue to build this company.  You can check out these woodworker skills: and  a great video showing kids how to build a stomp rocket.
