Marvin's Building Materials and
Home Centers New Store Openings.
Leeds, Alabama, July 19th, 2011
Marvin's Building Materials and Home Centers is pleased to announce plans
to open a new store in Eufaula, Alabama. The store will soon be under
construction at the former Wal-Mart site shopping center on Hwy 431,
and is expected to open in early October or sooner. The store will feature
a 34,000 square foot home center with an attached lawn and garden
center and drive through lumberyard. The store will offer a complete line
of building materials, electrical, plumbing, paint, millwork, hardware, tools,
and lawn and garden products. Marvin’s is known for its friendly,
neighborhood stores that make home improvement projects easy and
affordable. “Making it easy for our customers is what Marvin's is all
about," said Darrin Gilliam, CEO. “We’ve been working towards the goal of
opening a store to serve Eufaula for several years. The city has been very
helpful throughout the process. All the pieces finally came together to
make it happen. Our research indicates we will capture a great deal of
sales that are currently being served outside of Barbour County. We
would like to thank the very hard efforts of Mayor Jay Jaxon, Economic
Development Director Jim Bradley, Director of Planning Sheri Proctor, and
the entire city council in support of this project,” said Gilliam.
Marvin's will hire approximately 25 associates to work in the new store.
"We like to hire friendly people from the community. All of our stores
have a 'hometown' feel," said Gilliam. The Chamber of Commerce is
collecting employment applications for all open positions. People who are
interested may pick up and turn in their application at the Chamber of
Commerce located at 333 East Broad Street Eufaula, AL 36027.
Available positions range from management to part-time associates. Job
descriptions and more information about Marvin’s can be found on our
website at www.marvins.com. DHS Ventures from Daphne, AL is the
developer on this project and plans on revitalizing the center with a total
of 3 additions by nationally ranked tenants.
The new store in Eufaula is the second of two new stores for Marvin’s in
2011. Monroeville, AL opened in late May. Marvin's currently operates
26 stores in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. Marvin’s was named the
2010 Retailer of the Year by the Home Channel News.
